No palm oil – Vanajan’s choice for sustainable treats

At Vanajan, every ingredient is chosen with care, and palm oil isn’t part of our recipe. We know palm oil is “the easy option,” but its environmental impacts—such as deforestation and destruction of habitats for endangered species—don’t align with our values. That’s why we decided to say “no thanks” to palm oil over 10 years ago and opt for more responsible ingredients.

Why No Palm Oil?

Palm oil production is one of the main drivers of rainforest destruction. This also means the loss of habitats for animals like orangutans. Rainforests are not only essential for wildlife but also for mitigating climate change. At Vanajan, we don’t want to be part of that chain. Instead, we choose ingredients that support sustainable development.

What Do We Use Instead?

When we removed palm oil, we replaced it with locally sourced and more environmentally friendly alternatives, such as rapeseed and sunflower oils. These oils are not only more sustainable but also support local farmers and reduce emissions from transportation.
